Hello everybody!
For more than a year now I've been writing with some friends a MU blog based on WP. There are about 800 posts already and more than 8000 comments. In addition, recently I've "received" a portal with more than 1000 articles in different categories and a discussion forum with almost 50000 posts. the portal works on Joomla (installed about 2006 and newer upgraded), the forum uses IP.Board (also a very old version). As I'm alone in administering these services and there are tens of hundreds of users, I'm looking for some software to integrate them.
I've found out that it sholud be possible to migrate each one of my services to Drupal. I hope, I'll manage. But... Is this the right decission? Ultimately, I'd like to have three different services (portal, MU blog and forum) with one user management system for all of them, one theme with some small differences (maybe the same with different header and colour palette), with diferent Home page but maybe having one additional Home page for all. I'd like them to exchange information as well. I want to have last blog posts linked on the portal and the forum, newest articles from the portal on the forum and the blog and most active forum discussions linked on portal and on blog. Moreover, my services use different domain addresses and I have to preserve all of them as they are well known trademarks.
Any advices? Suggestions? I would be gratefull...
A few words about myself. I work in IT for about 30 years. I used some CMS systems as well, as I did some programing in different languages. But I'm almost alone, and this is a non-profit after hours activity, so I need to put some working pieces to work together rather than to build a dedicated solution from scratch. I don't know drupal for the moment, but I'm not afraid to learn ;-)
Thanks in advance,
Mateo
